Professor Suwanda H. J. Sugunasiri (known as Suwanda Sugunasiri) was the Professor of Education of University of Ontario. ==Early childhood and Education== Suwanda was born in to Buddhist parents in Tangalle and schooled at Nalanda College Colombo and Ananda College Colombo. While at Nalanda he was Vice Captain of under 16 and also a Lance-Sergeant of Junior Cadet platoon at Nalanda. Although he failed to gain admission to University of Ceylon, Suwanda erned his first degree in Bachelor of Arts from University of London through self study. His specialisations were Pali, Sanskrit and Sinhala. In 1964 he won a Full Bright Smith Mundt Scholarship from University of Pennsylvania. Later on after pursuing further studies Suwanda gained three masters degrees for Linguistics from University of Pennsylvania, Moral Philosophy from University of Toronto plus Scientific Study of Religion and Buddhism from same university.
